It’s no secret that forza horizon 5 is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year. The open-world racing game is set to release on October 2nd, just in time for the fall gaming rush. But is it really worth all the hype? Let’s take a look at what the game has to offer and see if it’s worthy of the Game of the Year title.
Forza Horizon 5 is the fifth installment in the forza horizon series and is developed by Playground Games. The game is published by Microsoft Studios and will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. forza horizon 5 takes place in Mexico and features a dynamic weather system that can affect how races play out. The game also introduces a new multiplayer mode called “tag” which allows players to stay linked up with friends as they explore the world.
So far, forza horizon 5 seems like it has everything you could want in a racing game. But we’ll have to wait until its release to see if it can truly live up to the hype.
As the sun sets over the Horizon Festival grounds, the last rays of light catch the metal and glass of the cars speeding around the track. The sound of engines roaring and tires screeching fills the air, as players race to the finish line. Forza Horizon 5 is a racing game that allows players to compete in races all around the world. The game features a wide variety of cars, tracks, and events to keep players entertained.
The developers have done an outstanding job with the graphics in Forza Horizon 5. Every car is extremely well detailed, from their exteriors to their interiors. The tracks are also very well designed, with a good mix of real-world locations and fictional tracks. The game also runs very smoothly, even on older consoles like the Xbox One S.
We’re immense fans of Forza Horizon 4’s soundtrack. Across the seasons, and indeed across the world, each location you visit is backed by its own eclectic mix of songs that perfectly fit with the on-screen action, whether you’re blazing through the snow to Slade’s Merry Christmas Everybody or weaving through traffic to circuitry-themed techno. It’s one of the best videogame soundtracks we’ve ever heard – so it’s a shame that the sound design in general isn’t quite up to the same standard.
There are some great engine noises on offer, particularly from modified cars, but they don’t always match up to how your car is visibly performing on-screen. This is most noticeable with exhaust notes; we’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve been driving a car with an aftermarket exhaust fitted, only for it to sound identical to the stock noise. It’s not a deal-breaker by any means – and again, some of the engine noises are superb – but it is a little immersion-breaking at times.
The story of Forza Horizon 5 centers around the annual Horizon Festival, a racing event that takes place across the fictionalized version of Colorado. The player assumes the role of a racer who enters the festival in an attempt to become the Horizon Champion. Throughout the course of the game, the player competes in races and events while completing various side objectives. The player’s progress is tracked via a “Festival Map” which is similar to Forza Motorsport 5’s “Career Map”.
The game is set in an open world environment based on a fictionalized version of Australia. The map is twice the size of that in forza horizon 3 and includes new environment types such as deserts, forests and mountains. There are 450 cars available at launch, with more to be added via downloadable content. Car customisation options from previous games return, with Dhalsim casino added as a new option. The game also introduces “Forzathon Live”, a live event that tasks players with completing goals to earn rewards.
So is Forza Horizon 5 the best racing game out there? It’s definitely up there, but it’s not the only great racing game this year. Forza Horizon 5 is a must-play for any fan of the genre, but it’s not the only game that deserves your attention.
