What is Drifting?
In motorsport, drifting is a driving technique where the driver intentionally oversteers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels or all tires, while maintaining control from entering into a spin. Drifting is often done by shifting into a lower gear than what is generally used while turning. Drifts can be initiated by braking while turning into a corner.
The Drifting Technique
Drifting is a driving technique where the driver intentionally oversteers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels through turns, while maintaining vehicle control and a pre-planned racing line. Achieving and sustaining a drift entails smooth application of throttle, braking, and turning inputs simultaneously. This driving technique causes the driven wheels to exceed the traction limit and begin to slip, therefore reducing tire adhesion on the road surface.
The forza horizon 3 Drifting Tune
Welcome to the forza horizon 3 Drifting Tune! This is a very simple and easy to follow tune that will have you drifts set up in no time at all. This tune is specifically designed for cars with AWD (All Wheel Drive) and RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) setups.
First, we’ll need to adjust our car’s suspension. We’ll be lowering our car’s ride height in the front and rear by an equal amount. This will help transfer weight to the wheels while we’re drifted, allowing us to maintain better traction. We’ll also be setting our suspension stiffness to maximum in the front and rear, as this will help keep our car stable while we’re sideways.
Next, we’ll need to adjust our transmission settings. We’ll be setting our final drive ratio to 4.10 in the front and 3.73 in the rear. This will give us a shorter gear ratio, allowing us to get up to speed quicker while we’re drifted. We’ll also be setting our clutch engagement point to 2000 RPM in the front and 1800 RPM in the rear. This will help engage our Drift Mode faster, allowing us to get into a drift quicker.
Lastly, we’ll need to adjust our tire pressure settings. We’ll be lowering our tire pressure in the front by 2 PSI and in the rear by 4 PSI. This will help improve grip while we’re drifted, allowing us to maintain better control of our car.
Thanks for following along, and we hope you enjoy your new forza horizon 3 Drifting Tune!
