Named after the iconic franchise, Forza Motorsport, Forza Tuning Labs used the well-known simulator to explore a better way to adjust vehicle suspensions and transmissions. The Forza Tuning Calculator was developed to provide a solid foundation to tune from, no matter what car.

The goal was to work smart not hard in form of analyzing data from automotive formulae to better understand the reasons how certain areas in the vehicle affects the overall tune, then to be able to make adjustments on practicality in conjunction with driver feel or intuition.

Forza Tuning Labs’ Tuning Calculator applies the work of professional individuals such as Claude Rouelle, with over 30 years of race engineering experience, and Carroll Smith, highly regarded among race drivers and engineers, as well as vast amounts of advanced modern physics equations and methods to deliver the best tuning experience available all the while maintaining its ease of use.

The Main Hub

The main sheet supports multiple languages including English, Français, Deutsch, Español and Italiano and provides support for both English and Metric units to users all over the world. Everything you need is on this sheet. With a flow from start to finish.

It also features various suspension input parameters. From adjusting the ride frequency, the overall suspension stiffness, to tweaking the strength and distribution of individual suspension parts.

Tire Dynamics

The tire dynamics sheet offers modified tire pressure values using ideal gas law equations. It analyzes each individual tire's contact patch, loaded radius and tire vertical stiffness as a result of the predicted weight on the tire and its pressure at its operating temperature. Tire deflection in addition to the analysis of the chassis geometry. From the overall effect of weight transfer to the reverse engineering of steering angles.

Suspension Dynamics

To tune the suspension on your car, weight transfer calculations are an essential first step. The tuning calculator uses these weight transfer equations to differentiate sprung mass and unsprung mass from curb weight. Sprung mass is required for a proper spring rate in combination with the vehicle’s magic number. Every car has a magic number. The magic number is the roll stiffness distribution expressed as the percentage of the roll gradient taken by the front suspension of the car. It represents the setup where the car is balanced mid corner, for a lateral condition, where there is no excess of oversteer or understeer.

The tuning calculator will determine the magic number and can dynamically generate a ride frequency using the chosen ride height. The tuning calculator will then automatically distribute optimal damper stiffness based on the springs’ natural frequencies and wheel travel combined with an ideal baseline damping ratio with the lowest transmissibility possible for maximum grip.


The tuning calculator features an integrated fully adjustable transmission calculator with support for up to seven speed transmissions.

It starts you off with a proper final drive ratio and can tune the last gear to the drag limited top speed or any reduced top speed and automatically spreads gears progressively. If you’d like, you can select a top speed for each gear. A simplified dynamometer is also used to calculate optimal shift points.


The aerodynamics sheet produces down force and drag estimates for further consideration of the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency.


This calculator is an advanced tuning tool developed from real world automotive principles, real world physics. These have been adapted to suit the virtual reality of the Forza Motorsport franchise of racing games. The FTC is not meant to replace human intuition, it's meant to aid the driver in helping make proper tuning decisions. This is where you, the driver, comes in. The car will perform at an improved level, relative to your driving style and inputs (acceleration, braking and steering). It will not compensate for a car build that breaks the laws of physics nor will it help you if your driving style is outside the bounds of common sense.
